About Kady Yellow
For more than ten years, Yellow has devoted her life to organizing, promoting, advocating for (and once creating) murals, public art/street art, and graffiti. In a 2015 move to New Orleans after teaching an undergraduate class on the subject matter through the State University of New York, Yellow earned a Master’s Degree in Art Administration and published her first book on the subject area. Yellow is a graffiti scholar and has helped implement hundreds of mural projects around the world.
The Book
Over 200 colorful pages, the author looks at how this ephemeral art form has adorned the streets— coming and going—and shares the context of the murals, tags, wheatpastes, slap-ups, and masterpieces. The author embarks on a journey to educate the reader on the different history, tools/techniques and practices of three distinct art
forms: murals, street art, and graffiti.
A first of its kind, this full-color, large-format, hardcover book documenting underground New Orleans street art. The book offers never-before-told stories featuring street art history over and exclusive first time interviews, comprehensive biographies, and gorgeous photographs documenting 70 artists; which serves as the textbook for this class.
Books will be available for purchase the evening of the event!
2nd Annual 48 Hour Mural Project at Phoenix Arts & Innovation District
In collaboration with the 48 Hour Film Project of Jacksonville, join us for the 2nd Annual 48 Hour Mural Festival, an engaging showcase of creativity and community at the Phoenix Arts & Innovation District in Jacksonville! Produced by artist, Jason Tetlak and Emily Moody, Chief Experience Officer at Phoenix Arts & Innovation District, this high-energy event challenges 10 talented muralists or teams to create a mural in just 48 hours.
This year the event will take place along the green way by the soon to be opened Emerald Station.
Visitors ARE WELCOME and invited to park along the street or in the gravel lot at 2335 N. Market Street.
Come hungry! Naked Kitchen will be on site from 12 to 3 p.m. Saturday, September 28th serving up tastiness so come ready to eat!

Completion: Sunday, September 29th, 7:30 p.m.

What to Expect:
Starting at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, the selected muralists will receive specific elements that must be incorporated into their murals. From there, they will have 48 hours to bring their visions to life on the walls of the Phoenix Arts & Innovation District. The event will culminate on Sunday at 6:00 p.m. with a celebration of the completed works.
Each participating artist or team will receive a $500 stipend for their contribution. This festival is not just a display of artistic talent, but a testament to the power of collaboration and community spirit in the heart of Jacksonville.
The public is invited to come cheer on the artists as they complete their work over the weekend! Once completed the murals will be scored by Jacksonville culture leaders with awards being announced during the 48 Hour Film Awards presentation at WJCT Studios on Monday, October 21. All muralists will receive a ticket to attend.

Hey FAM! Join us for a fun, free family friendly night of Food, Art & Music inside the walls of PHX JAX.
In celebration of the completion of over 25 new works of art in the District, we will be showing off all the new pieces during this community event. Our buds at Naked Kitchen and Lola’s Kitchen will of course be serving up all their favorite recipes while guests peruse the gorgeous new murals installed. Plus, enjoy live music and get a chance to talk it up and even go home with a one of a kind work of art as many participating artists will be set up selling their creations and sharing the vision for their art.

She’s a longtime practitioner and began her Baptiste-influenced teaching at a locally owned power yoga studio.
