Innovative Emerald Station debuts a mixed-use space that aims to transform Jacksonville's urban landscape
As the ribbon hit the floor, the gathered crowd cheered on the official opening of Emerald Station and the near completion of phase one of the Phoenix Arts & Innovation District at 2320 N. Liberty St.
PHX JAX is a regenerative placemaking project activating 10 properties across 8.3 acres and a total of 120,000 square feet of adaptively repurposed warehouse spaces. The ribbon-cutting represented the culmination of collaborative innovation and activation, according to District 7 councilman Jimmy Peluso.

Known as the Emerald Station, the venue will be located at 2320 N. Liberty St. in a space built in 1930 as a Sherwin-Williams paint factory. It will include several offices and corporate spaces as well as 10,000 square feet dedicated to private events.

Work starting on Liberty Building in Phoenix Arts & Innovation District
Work continues on the Phoenix Arts & Innovation District as the city issued a permit Feb. 13 for renovations of the Liberty Building. Avant Construction Group of Jacksonville is the contractor for the $625,000 project at 2336 Liberty St. JAA Architecture Inc. is the architect.

Ownership of the Phoenix Arts & Innovation District filed a master plan with the city in its next step to regenerate the North Springfield neighborhood. Companies associated with Miami-based Future of Cities, which bought and assembled the properties comprising the 8.3-acre site, applied Jan. 10 with the city for more rezoning as a Planned Unit Development and for a land use amendment.
