ARTISTS IN RESIDENCE
Chris Clark
Chris Clark is a self-taught visual artist, illustrator, and muralist living and working in Jacksonville, FL. Art, to him, is a form of journalism. Using acrylic, oil, ink, and spray paint, he explores the rich culture and history of the Black community across the diaspora and the social issues affecting them today. For Clark, reflecting the human figure is very powerful, which is why he uses graphic-style portraiture and figurative works to depict Black life in America through his personal lens of a Black man, husband, and father. At the core of his work is the notion that representation matters. As the artist explains, “By telling my story, I want to help the viewer rediscover theirs.”
Elena Øhlander
Elena Øhlander is a visual artist and muralist working in the medium of mixed-media illustration, currently residing in Jacksonville, Florida. She obtained her BFA in Photography from The Art Institute of Jacksonville in 2014. Academics and research laid the foundation for her career as a visual artist, art advocate/curator and non-profit/city municipality collaborator - facilitating public art projects throughout the southeast region of the United States.

Tatiana Kitchen
Tatiana (Kitchen) Phoenix is a visual artist that often explores the idea of divine femininity within her work. Using many different perspectives, she creates a world that highlights black women in their fullness, where they are to be seen and admired. Throughout this artist's body of work are images of her muses, often depicted with beautiful hues of blue and purple skin tones, symbolizing the infinite and immeasurable, as to give the viewer a sense of their godliness and power. Though they may look fantastical, they are not imaginary beings, they are symbolic of real women in the artist's life and women in general.
Jarett Walker
Jarett Walker is a Florida-born artist who specializes in fine art painting. Over the years, his art has become more intentional, focusing on storytelling and self-reflection. A large percentage of the pieces he creates either speak to the Black experience in America or offer encouragement to anyone who may need a fresh word of inspiration. His pieces are deeply inspired by his community and personal journey, with family playing a big role in his artistic path.
